Hi
I'm new to this but wanted to ask if anyone has any words of wisdom. My dad was diagnosed in September 2017 with rectal cancer , a tumour in his colon and one in his rectum. He had surgery to remove his rectum and a part of his colon, when they opened him up they found liver metastasis, after long recovery dad had CT scan which showed extensive liver disease , three nodules in his lung, dad couldn’t have surgery due to the extensive disease, he has had two rounds of chemo which finished in October 2018 , CT in December showed no change to cancer, dad and oncologist decided not to have more treatment at that point as he was feeling very weary , he’d had three hospital admissions during chemo with pneumonia, two weeks ago he had a CT scan and we were given the heartbreaking news that’s the cancer had spread in the lungs and more in the liver. It was decided that dad wouldn’t benefit now from any treatment and has been referred to the hospice and McMillan nurses, this feels like the end is coming we are all devastated, has anyone else been through this and how much time have we at this point?
