Seeing things?

Hi, my aunt has recently been taken into hospital, since a week ago she has gone down hill faster then I could ever imagine. She has terminal liver cancer . For a few days she has been mentioning seeing things. First is was a massive spider, then a black cat and today water dripping from the Celline. Is this normal? I asked the nurse if she has been given morphine but said she hasn't had it for a could of days. Yesterday we thought she had had some as she was so very confused .Its so scary. Seeing her like this. I did make a joke about the drips because i didn't know what else to really say. Has anyone been in a similar situation? Thankyou to whoever replies.

  • Hi there ...

I've heard before that some helusinate ... could be a number of things .. some think they see a loved one that's gone over ... I'd just have a word with the Dr in charge .. but l wouldn't over worry ... just try and make sure you say things to clam her .. saying things she sees are not there may make her more troubled ...  hold her hand and lots of reassurance. . • My husband is terminal but not as far down the road as your  aunt. He was halucinating in the middle of the night a few times. Said there were green bushes on the landing. I don't think it is unusual but very upsetting for close ones to hear

  • Hi

My mum had the same a week before she left us

She kept saying she was seeing red dots on the walls

My two teenage sons were the same and made a joke of it saying they could see them and pretended to catch them

She also kept talking to my brother that wasn't in the room and would confuse people for others

Its horrible thing to see a person you love so dearly detoriate and these things upset me and i knew it was near the end for her xx

  • I know this was last posted on in 2019.

But it struck a chord with me. I lost my wife last July 2020, 2 years earlier the wife's mothwer passed away. Now she had a misscarrage  in her earlier life.Just before her mum passed away she pointed to a little girl in the corner of the room and asked who the little girl was. they assumed it was the miscarrage she had. when they turned to look no one was there.

Last July before my wife passed away I was taking a break in the yard having my usual break down. When My wife said make sure the two lads have a buscuit. My lad and daughter said they looked around and no one was there. they told me what she had said, So I told them that there mum had lost twins after going full term. they were still born. I just thought it was something she had remembered in the back of her brain, because her mother had said it. I thought she was just repeating what she remembered  from when her mum passed away. So hopefully when this lockdown is eased, I have a pouch of my wife's ashes and it's only fitting I put them on the twins grave. at least there something of there mum with them.
