Treatment options for stage four bile duct cancer

Hello

id like to learn from others experiences.

My father has stage 4 bile duct cancer. He’s been through operations (inc Rfa) to stave off jaundice but they don’t seem to have done enough.

He currently has billirubin too high for chemo and the surgeon doesn’t seem to believe the obstruction can be removed.

I would love to hear about anyone who has had treatment in this situation. Perhaps chemo with drains in? Chemo despite liver strain? Any kind of Hail Mary surgery or drug trials?

thank you

  • Hi Lookingforhope,

I'm very sorry to hear about your father. I can certainly understand your wish to find out more in this situation. If you have any questions or would like to discuss anything with our nurses, they're available on freephone 0808 800 4040 - Monday-Friday, 9-5.

Otherwise, hopefully others will be along soon here if they've had a similar experience. Do feel free to browse our forum and I hope you find it a helpful place to be.

Wishing you all the very best.
