Help

My dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2010

Its also in his lymphnodes

He has been treated with 3monthly hormore injections and had beed stable with psa readings between 1-3

Just before Christmas he was tested again and his psa had risen to 114 so he was told to have them repeated again which he did two weeks ago and his reading was even higher at 144.

Hes now recieved a letter from his dr asking him to go to his gp to have the test done again and that they are going to see him urgently at the clinic this Thursday .

Im trying to stay calm & not panic but Im struggling .

Has this ever happend to anyone else and if so what was the final outcome for you ?

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat, Marjac1, although I'm sorry about the reason that brings you here.

It's understandable that after all that your dad has been through you are feeling anxious so I hope you will find the support you need here among our members.

Also, we have some information about the PSA test on our website which I thought I'd post in case this can be of any help.

Stay strong Marjac1 and remember that there is always someone here to listen.

Best wishes to you and your dad,

  • Hi

    Sorry to read your post

I lost my hubby to prostrate cancer.

He had hormone injections his psa was much higher than your dads when he was diagnosed.

It stayed high all the time with the injections.

The cancer had spread to his ribs.

He lived for 11 months from being diagnosed.

Had he gone  to GP earlier it might have been treated.

Do try and stay strong lots of chats and hugs.

    Best wishes x
