R chop chemo and methotrexate side effects

Hi,

we are new to the group and would love to know if anyone could offer any advice or help.

My father in law was diagnosed with stage 4 lymphoma back in May. He was treated with 6 rounds of r chop chemo and 1 high dose of methotrexate in dec. which was his last course of treatment.

Over the last week he has increasingly become confused, with memory loss, very unsteady on his feet resulting in a number of falls, and generally very weak. We have contacted his haematologist who has referred him for a full scan but this isn't for another week, with how fast he has deteriorated over the last week we have tried to hurry it up. The haematologist doesn't seem overly concerned and referred to it as possible chemo head.

if any one has any experience or info about this, we would love to hear your thoughts.

  • Welcome to the forum Amanda.

I'm sorry to read what your father-in-law has been experiencing lately. Hopefully other members who have been in this situation or cared for others that have had similar issues will share their experiences with you soon but do give our cancer nurses a call if you want to have a quick chat with them about this. They are available Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m on 0808 800 4040.

Fingers crossed the scan results will bring good news when the time comes.

    Best wishes to you both,
