Not sure what is going on

My mum told me last week that she had had a colonoscopy because of blood being found in her bowel cancer screening test. Then she said she had to have a CT scan and a MRI and that it's likely she'll have to have an operation. She hasn't said she's been diagnosed but from what I've read on the NHS website the CT scan and MRI are only done to ser how far advanced the cancer. She was very reluctant to say about the tests and I don't really know what to think or how to help her. She's 72 and my dad is no help at all. I want to be there for her but I don't know what to do for the best

  • I am sorry to hear about your Mum. The CT and MRI are standard procedure to determine exactly where and how large any tumour is. The waiting for results is the hardest part.Did your mum not tell you what the results of the colonoscopy were? Maybe you should tell her that you will worry less if you knew all the facts and then you could support her better.

    Best wishes
