Ovarian cancer with Brain Mets

I am 37 years old, in 2014 my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer, she had a lumpectomy and radiotherapy, and has been clear of breast cancer, but in 2016 , my mum started to be unwell, her stomach was bloated and she was being sick all the time, she went to the doctors and first they told her she was constipated, then said she had a urine infection, all the time my mum went to the doctors, she kept mentioning her stomach and how she felt uncomfortable. Eventually the doctors did a blood test and found she has late stage ovarian cancer that was also in the omentum. She has had one lot of chemo, then had an 11 month break, then had to have a second round of chemotherapy. But in October 2018, my mum started getting confused and knew what she wanted to say, but couldn’t get the words out, I took her to a&e and that is where they found it had spread to the brain. In December 2018 my mum underwent brain surgery, and is now waiting radiotherapy. I was just wondering if there were any other cases like my mum .

  • Hi I was reading your post because my mom has breast cancer with brain Mets and has last week just had an operation to remove the larger met. We have got to go back to the hospital this week and I hope they say that she can have radiotherapy for the smaller ones. My moms met causes mobility issues and some confusion on occasions but is very worried and stressed causing great anxiety. I just try to remain positive and hope that the radiotherapy will help. Let me know how you get on and if I can share any new information I will. Take care x

  • Thank you, I will do, they removed the largest tumour on my mum but she has four smaller ones that they are going to give one shot of radiotherapy to which will hopefully kill the smaller ones. My mums mobility  has been ok it was her speech more than anything that distressed her the most, she knew what she wanted to say but couldn’t get the words out and her speech was very slurred and it caused some confusion. Fingers crossed they offer your mum radiotherapy next week when you go to the hospital, let me know how your mum gets on and I will keep you updated on my mums treatments xxx
