Lost

my husband has just been diagnosed with Stage 4 aggressive prostate cancer which has spread and metastasised - thankfully not to his bones yet but to retro peritoneal lymph nodes

this only happened in December 2018 bolt out of the blue no real symptoms went to GP by chance in November and it all spiralled downhill from there

currently too far gone for surgery and is now not curative

they have offered one course of chemo as they said “will give him some time at the end” but he has unstable diabetes which is not helping the situation - other treatment hormone therapy and hopefully some radiotherapy depending on chemo results if he gets any due to his diabetes

How have we gone from such a normal existence into this whirlwind I have never had to deal with this before and he is only 53

I feel so guilty about thinking of practicalities mortgage, bills, work, etc. When he is going through this - how do people cope and still focus on helping their husband/wife

  • Dear Lost

I am so so sorry to hear about your husband. Cancer is so cruel. I have no answers ... I am dealing with my father's imminent death from a brain tumour but your husband is so young. I am sending you my love and prayers. Somehow you will find the strength to deal with it but it is terribly traumatic and I advise you to get as much help from your GP and the local nurses as you possibly can, early on because it is exhausting.  Much love x you can do this xxx
