Mum can no longer have treatment & wants a tattoo, thoughts?

My mum has been told she can no longer have treatment they have said to her depending on her health she could live couple months too a year she has the idea in her head to get a tattoo told her she can't but she disagrees as she's no longer having treatment would like some advice please x

  • Hi there ...

I think it's a lovely thought for your mum ... as long as her oncology team say it's o.k ... I have always wanted my granddaughter's name ... but never got it, for one reason or another .. if I were in your mum's place right now, I'm sure that's what I'd do too ...

Find out for her, what or why, she can or can't have it ... but if she can, support her .. cancer takes away our control on life ... hope she gets gets her wish ... Chrissie xx

  • It's a lovely idea, but as Chrissie says check with the Oncology team to see if it's OK.

The last thing you want to happen is for her to pick up an infection, skin irritation or something like that.  As you probably know anyway, the immune system can still be very fragile even after treatments have finished so it's best to seek advice.  Even her chosen tattoist may be able to offer guidance in that regard?

    All the best,

    James x
