My mum has a cyst on her ovary and had elevated ca125 levels and her CT scan showed some suspicious cells in her omentum so the MDT team suggested the best action was to have a total hysterectomy and removal of the omentum. Her first op was cancelled a month ago and she had the op today. However the consultant said that when they operated, the tissue could not be removed and he just took a biopsy. He is now talking about chemo and a possible op after that. My mum is 85 and apart from this is well. Im speaking to the consultant tomorrow but am going frantic worrying that if it couldn’t be removed then is chemotherapy realistic given her age. Is this course of action normal and what might the prognosis be. I know I’m speaking to consultant tomorrow but am really worried.
