Hi everyone.
I'm new here but just needed someone to talk to. I hope that's OK.
So my dad was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer 11 years ago. He was told it was incurable and given 5 years max. Unbelievably it was cured his psa returned to 0 and he was discharged.
Fast forward to a routine psa a few weeks ago which was 8.9 and prompted a consultant appointment. He was encouraging and said we needed it ideally to stay below 10 and ordered a retest. Above 10 would initiate hormone injections again. 3 weeks on the results have just come back in as 23. I know it's bad news from what was discussed years ago. The stage he was at they said over 20 meant probable bone mets. I'm literally going out of my mind. My poor dad doesn't even know the results yet. (I have permission to access his results which he consented to). I can't bring myself to tell him.
Has anyone been in similar circumstances?
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Laura
