Fluid in lungs twice now.

Hi I am new to this. I'm really worried for my partner as her mum has been to the hospatail twice this month as she has fliud in her lunges again. Due to having cancer. She has been put on morphien to help the paid. Am not sure what thus means as she stoped her treamtents as nothing was working. She's lost a lot of weight and is very tiered all the time.my partner isint sleeping or eating very well and I'm worried. Her mum has been twice now and dosent seem to be getting any better what so ever. I don't know how to help my partner or her mum as it's pushing us both over the edge now. Dose this mean her mum wasent for long left?

  • Hello Tracy73 and welcome.  I am sorry that your partner's mum is not doing so well.    Fronm what you have written I think that that the outcome does not look good.  If they have stopped all the treatment this can only be  because the treatments were not working.    She has been given morphine to block the pain.    Talk to your partner, who I imagine is talking to her mum about what is happening.  Your partner must be very worried and unhappy as she is gradually losing her mum.  Find out what the doctors are saying about what is expected for your partner's mum - although it can sometimes be difficult to know how long any individual patient will live for.  You need to be there for your partner and help her in any way she needs as this must be a terrible time for her. Help her to help her mum; you all need to be talking to each other about what is needed.   Annie
