Mom suffering frm 4th stg lung cancer (Sarcomatoid Carcinoma

Hi,

This is Bikash from Nepal. Past few days have been so stressful. Recently mom (52, Non smoker) has been diagnosed with 4th stage  lung cancer. In addition to misery she has been diagnosed with Sarcomatoid Carcinoma,  one of the rarest type of lung cancer. As per PET CT scan,  it has spread through bone,  hearts and kidney.

Recently,  chemotherapy has been started. I hope she responds well. This is toughest moment of my life and I want suggestions from you all. Is there anything more that can be done?

Pray for my mom.

Wishing you all great time.

  • Hello Bikash and thanks for your post

I was sorry to learn about your mom's situation. This must be a very difficult time for you both.

As a team of nurses, I'm afraid we are not in a position to be able to recommend treatment for anyone so I can't suggest if there is anything more that can be done for your mom. We are not a hospital or clinic so don't have specialists I can refer you to. The best person to discuss this with is the specialist doctor involved in your mom's care. In the UK,there are lung specialist nurses who can offer patients information and support.I wonder if a similar service was available to your mom in Nepal.

Chemotherapy is one of the main treatments for advanced lung cancer and you can read more about this at this link.

You may find it helpful to to contact the Nepal Cancer Society to see if they can give you any advice or help you explore treatment options closer to home.

I'm sorry we can't be more helpful.

    Kind regards,

    Celene
