Bone cancer/ bowel cancer

My dad was diaognosed with firstly bowel cancer near his tumour of course. After being refered to another hospital for radiotherapy, he so far has had around 3 treatments they have now done 3 biopsy and on this third occasion they now say it has gone to his bone near his raptured ribs. Whereas with the 2 other biopsys they said they could not see where it has spread.

What are the options now?

Will I be able to see him for xmas?

  • Hello siphoto,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I am sorry to hear that your dad has learned that his bowel cancer has spread and that the third biopsy has specifically detected that it has spread to his bones near his ribs.

I hope you will meet others here who have been in a similar situation and are looking after a loved one with cancer. I am sure they will be along soon to share their experience with you and discuss what options they were offered and how things developed for them. Many here will tell you how difficult it is to predict how things will progress as each person is very different so try not to fear the worst and ask maybe the specialists who are looking after your dad what they think.

If you want to talk through anything, our nurses are available on this free number 0808 800 4040 - their line is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm

    Best wishes,
