Hi i found out in feb 2018 my dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer then in april we found out it had spread to his hip, parts of his spine and some of his ribs he has not been offered radiation or chemo due to current health issues and age. Well this past 2 weeks he seems to have gone down hill quite quickly were he is sleepung most of the day his legs are weak. He has the monthly hormone treatment but thats it he has had no contact with consultant since diagnosis i no your not doctors but im just wondering if i need to prepare my self for the worse any advice/help would be greatly appreciated thank you.

  • Hello Alovedonewithcancer,

I can imagine this year has certainly been intense for you with your dad's diagnosis in February and then being told shortly after that the cancer had spread. I am so sorry to hear that in the last couple of weeks he seems to have deteriorated quickly. It may be worth trying to contact the consultant and asking whether it might be possible to see or at least talk to him/her  if you feel you have questions or would like to know what to expect at this stage.

It is obviously very hard to predict what to expect but talking to his medical team might give you a little bit more of an idea and help you feel a little bit better informed. I hope that you will also hear from some of our members here who have looked after a loved one with cancer and may have had a similar experience.

    Best wishes,
