Need advice

My father has had prostate cancer since 2009 and has had hormone treatment! A few months ago it wasn't keeping the psa levels down and went to 44, then 144, now it's 602, he seems to be going downhill fast! Can't seem to get any Macmillan support or social service to do much of anything! They have given a care home which seems absolutely usless, really think In advanced stagestages something more than cocodomol should be given and some form of end of life care to be given! My step mother also has cancer and is unable to see to the care he needs! Any advice would be really helpful!!!......

  • hi

i'm sorry to hear how your father is doing and the struggles your faceing...it doesn't seem right at all!

    Is your father in pain?

My own father has support from district nurses and a Macmillan nurse. He was referred to the Macmillan at a consultant appointment. The district nurses became involved as he had a wound to his hip and couldn't get to clinic.

could you try phoning whatever hospital your father attends and ask to speak to the palliative care team (if they have one I don't know how it works in other areas but surely they must have something) and getting advise there?

sorry I can't be more help but didn't want to not reply xx
