Stomach Cancer

Hi I'm new here!

I'm a part of the support team for my dad who is fighting stomach cancer he was recently diagnosed a few months ago but this is an aggressive form of cancer. He has also survived prostate cancer and also pancreatic cancer and 2 strokes over 20 years ago so this is third bout with this horrible disease he is scheduled for surgery to have it removed on November 29th but he is waiting for tests to come back to be cleared for this surgery. As of now doctors have said it has not moved out side of the stomach or area where it started but he is dealing with a lot of pain in his lower back on his left side and pain in his hip and thigh on his left side and is also complaining of his lower left leg feeling numb He Has Fallen last week from losing his balance and within the last 2 weeks he's visited the ER for unbearable pain. They gave him steroid shot and pain meds but not seeming to find relief. Is there anyone out there who's experience relates to this?

  • Welcome to the forum Rob.

It's good to hear that the cancer hasn't spread although I'm sorry about the pain your dad is experiencing at the moment. Hopefully some of our members who have found themselves having to  contend with similar pain will be along soon to share their advice and experiences with you but do make sure you or your dad let his medical team know that the current pain relief isn't working so they can try and find something for him that does.

I can't begin to imagine how difficult this situation must be for you all, especially as this is the third time your dad is having to contend with this disease, but fingers crossed the surgery on the 29th will help him through once more.

    Best wishes to you all,
