Fec-T chemo and Carboplation

Hello my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer in mid September and at first confirmed as DCIS but further biopsy’s show it has spread to lymph nodes and up the neck. The cancer here is showing as aggressive and after a vacuum biopsy on her breast there is still no confirmation of where the aggressive cancer has come from. CT scan and full body bone scan show as clear so they’re quite sure somewhere in the breast is aggressive and this is where it’s started

we seen the oncologist just yesterday who is going to be giving her FEC-T. I am just worried because the radiologist, breast surgeon and oncologist who is meant to be one of the best have all said they are confused at this type of cancer as DCIS should not spread and I’m worried they are not entirely sure what is going on themselves but they are going to be attacking the cancer with everything they’ve got in hope it shrinks and get rid of the aggressive cancer and mastectomy in 6 months.

has any one else been through this? The radiologist told us he had only heard of one other case so I’m worried and really so hope this works!

she is stage 3, lump was around 5cm when she first noticed

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat Sparklingtstar.

I'm sorry that your mum's medical team have been left a bit stumped by the spread of your mum's DCIS but hopefully the FEC-T and carboplatin will stop it in its tracks.

Hopefully other members who have been in similar situations or have had this course of treatment will be along soon to share their experiences with you but if you'd like to chat with someone about this then do give our cancer nurses a call. You can contact them on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

    Best wishes to you both,
