Any Advice will be much appreciated

My dad has tongue cancer. Which has spread to his lymph nodes. Radiotherapy is no longer an option as he had throat  cancer around 12 years go which he was cured off, but the radiotherapy ruined his bone structure in his jaw, he now only has half. He has been told chemotherapy will not help. I am currently looking at paying a company around £2000 to test their experimental medicine on his samples from the hospitals.  If they find a new treatment for him, we may be looking to paying a lot for it. Has anybody done this before? My dad doesn’t want me to to pay the money in case it doesn’t work. But I can’t put a price in his life. I will do anything to try help change his prognosis.

  • Hello leanne1990.  Sorry to learn about your dad.  Please make sure you do your research before spending large sums of money; you cannot just take things at face value.  Have you spoken to your dad's oncologist about this experimental medicine - maybe s/he is already involved - but please make sure that this will be money wisely spent before taking it further.  Maybe others will have some experience to share with you.  Annie

  • Leanne, my husband has cancer and someone contacted me offering medicine free of charge for a tial.  I reported this, it was looked into and was a scam.  I have a friend whose husband's cancer was treated in Germany and cost a fortune and even though he was diagnosed terminal they paid and it made no difference.   It's so hard to accept your Dad  is saying no, but he is older and wiser, so listen to his reasonable argument against this "treatment ".  Sometimes money is not the answer .  Take care, Carol
