My dad finished chemo for Hairy Cell Leukemia about 6 weeks ago. But for the last week he has no energy and can't stop sleeping.. is this normal... just worried. I thought he woykd be sleeping less now but he seems to be sleeping more. Thanks
Your dad is perfectly normal .. the energy level plummets even on young fit patients ... it can last for a long time , as the treatment really is agresive on the body .. some never get full strength back, others work slowly up again .. it is one of the downfalls of treatment ...
I have to have 1 or 2 P J days, totally relaxing, which charges my body ... I've found listening to his body, as it will tell him when to stop .. is the way to go ... and to realise it takes time ... and however long, just enjoy the down time .. I used to feel guilty, but I've learned to get good days, you have to just chill in between .. like a battery runs down and needs charging , that's what our body's do ...
So take time relaxing with dad, and chat, or watch a film... if he sleeps don't worry... just go with the flow .. Chrissie x
