Hi Cas27,
We have some general information about immunotherapy on our website just here but if you have any questions, don't hesitate to give our cancer nurses a call. Their number is 0808 800 4040 and are available Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.
I also wanted to put you in touch with [@otherhalf]. They joined the forum a few days ago and their husband has recently started immunotherapy to treat cancer that has spread to the lung and now that I've mentioned them in this post they'll hopefully stop by when they can to say hello and share their experiences with you.
Hopefully other members who have cared for someone having immunotherapy or are in the process or having this treatment will reply soon as well.
Kind regards,

Hi, I had my 5th immunotherapy treatment last week, I have stage 4 lung cancer.
I have the treatment every three weeks, two days before I have bloods taken then the day before I get a phone call from the main cancer hospital in my area to check I am well enough to have treatment and to check I have not had any side effects then the following day go for treatment which is given by a drop, all in all usually there for about an hour and a half.
I have been very lucky and have not had any side effects other than tiredness.
the treatment is working really well for me and my main tumour has nearly halved in size, other thing have improved too but my memory of my last oncology appointment is a bit fuzzy, I was so shocked I didn’t take it all in so need to get a copy of report I think.
My next scan and oncology appointment are just before Christmas so hoping the news will continue to be good.
good luck with your husband ‘s treatment’
kind regards, Sheila
Hi Cas27,
My mother had stage 4 kidney cancer and we tried Avastin, Xeloda, Inteferon-Alpha and Temsirolimus in 4.5months. As with the aggressive nature of my mum's cancer, these targeted therapies only worked for a few weeks before we had to change to a new treatment. In the 4th month battling cancer, a huge tumour suddenly appeared on her left thigh. Her treatments just didn't seem to stop the growth. Finally, we went on to try Nivolumab. After 2 treatments, her lump grew smaller and by the third, it was almost flat. Unfortuntely, my mum had a stroke attack shortly after due to her overall weakened state followed by unstopable bleeding caused by constipation (from the morphine) and she eventually passed on a week and a half ago. I think if my mum started on immunitherapy earlier, we could have possibly seen a different result. I will never know,
All the best to you!
Kind regards,
Isueltmink
