Suggestions Wedding Dress Shopping with Terminally Ill Mum

Hi

I'm 24 and my sister is 20 years old.

Our mum was diagnosed with Stage 4 Terminal Cancer back in November 2016.

Unfortunately doctors have said they can only try and stop the cancer spreading with Chemo to prolong her life.

They have been treating her with chemo for the last year and half however they think the treatment has stopped working, the cancer is in her bones, lungs, liver and spreading further.  We are not sure if there is anything else they can do and are waiting for the scan results which come back in October.

She has done amazing to get to where she is now and truly is an inspiring women! My mums worried that we wont get those mother daughter moments together that everyone wishes for.

I'm looking to organise for us to go wedding dress shopping (neither of us are engaged) so we can have that moment to treasure if the time comes when she is not there when we get married.

Does anyone know of any places that they have been to in a similar situation near Essex? Most Bridal shops need appointments and only allow you to have 3 people with you however i want to take out aunties and closest family friends to cherish the moment.

Id appreciate any suggestions,

Thanks!

Natalie

  • Hi natalie, im so sorry to hear about your mam.

That is such a lovely idea & i would think if you maybe explained to the bridal shops your situation they would accommodate you guys. I am getting married next year and my mam has just been diagnosed with extensive small cell lung cancer we dont know how long she will be with us so im rushing around trying to organise everything with mam so if isnt with us on the day i will still have all those memories of her helping me make my day so special.

Its such a hard time but i hope yourself and your sister get the chance to make those memories with your mam
