Triple Negative breast... chemo and radio options

So my amazing sister has had her lumpectomy and it hasn’t spread to her lymph nodes (yeah!!). This is great news, but because it’s triple neg - chemo and radio are dead certs (.. oh ***). Whilst we all know that she has a result that some people don’t get a chance to have we are all realising the complexity of cancer and that the next few months are gonna be be tough for her.

She is now waiting for the appt with her oncologist to discuss the chemo and radio plan. And the wait is doing her head in... why isn’t the oncologist there when you get surgery results?! But I digress. We all know that we should “wait for the personalised plan” but she really wants some clues in the interim. So lovely ladies and gents - is anyone able to share the chemo and radio recipe they had for triple neg that hasn’t spread beyond the breast? My fab sis is 41, single parent with 4 gorgeous kids and a beautiful head of hair and teeth - she wants to have an idea around what could happen so we can compare and contrast and she can start to prepare herself...OMG we miss the days when we used to just talk about which shoes to choose!!

Q1. Did you do chemo then radio or vice versa?

Q2. What cocktail did you get with chemo?

Q3. Side effects for radio were...?

Q4. Side effects with your chemo cocktail were..?

Sending love, hugs, and humour that is sometimes really wrong but SO right sometimes to anyone living with (pre and post getting rid of C) and to those loving and supporting people with it. Xxxx

Screw cancer and bring on shoe shopping with my gal.. my hero and superstar littlest sis.

  • Welcome to the Cancer Chat community DCoops.

I'm sorry to read that your sister has been diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer although it's great news that it hasn't spread to her lymph nodes.

I hope other members with this diagnosis will pop by to share their experiences with you soon but I've had a quick look through the forum and found two discussions that you may want to have a look at and possibly join in on. Just click here and here to find out more.

I hope your sister's chemo and radiotherapy go well and that you can both go shoe shopping soon :)

    Kind regards,
