Husbands prostatectomy

After our journey began in May we now have a date for my husbands operation of 25th September

its been a roller coaster of emotions, we’ve attended a well being clinic last week where there were 20 couples whom men were all diagnosed with prostate cancer & requiring the same operation & further treatment if required .

It was good to be given more information & support and chat with others going through the same

next week I’m taking my husband away for a few days as he’s been getting stressed about things . I want him to be in the best place physically & mentally for his forth coming operation

it got me thinking that we must not loose sight that yes life will be slightly different as a couple after but remember that this operation will be saving his life

Humour has kept us going & will continue to do so and he has me right by his side as well as our family .

We have years ahead to make more memories after this to add to our memory banks ️

  • Hello Suzie801,

Your husband is certainly very lucky to have such a supportive partner by his side, someone who will be there for him every step of the way. I am sure this will really help him face his operation knowing that he is very much loved and supported. And as you say, humour always keeps us going and with your humour and your love he has nothing to fear.

Not long to wait now until the 25th of September I hope his operation goes well. I don't want to bombard you with information, but I thought I'd share this link about the prostatectomy surgery even though I am sure you are already well-informed about it.

Meeting other couples going through the same must have been a reassuring experience. It's always nice to feel that we are not alone, that others are about to have the same operation and treatment. I hope you will also meet others on this forum who are in a similar place at the moment.

What a lovely idea to be taking your husband away before the operation. Is it a surprise trip or does he know the destination? It will be a great time for you to be together and as you say for him to be in the best place mentally and physically before the surgery.

If you have time in the coming weeks and months, do pop back here and let us know how the operation goes.

    Best wishes,
