Bowel cancer stage IV

hello not posted on here before so here goes. My husband was diagnosed in September 2016 with incurable bowel with metastasis to his liver. His liver was covered with only one section free. After chemo he made good progress and managed to shrink both bowel and liver. Radiotherapy given to mop up as oncologist said. He went to hospital in January 2018 and had a liver resection were as much as possible could be taken away. He has had a scan recently to be told cancer has returned on outside of bowel and back in liver. It looks like chemo not working as efficiently as before so going to change it to another. Is it possible for my husband to have another liver resection?just when we started to feel like we had control it has been taken again. Can anyone help us to look at anything that might give us hope again?thank you for listening x

  • Welcome to the forum Tigger_bouce.

I'm really sorry to read that your husband's cancer has returned to the outside of the bowel and is back in his liver.

Your husband's medical team are in the best position to answer any questions about another liver resection and other options that may be available so it may be worth sitting down with them again at some point to discuss this.

Hopefully some of our cancer chat members will be along soon to offer their support and advice but our cancer nurses are just a phone call away if you'd like to have a chat with them about this as well. Their phone number is 0808 800 4040 and lines are open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

I do hope the new chemo proves to be effective Tigger_bouce.

    Best wishes to you both,
