  • Hello,

Thanks for posting.  I am so sorry to hear about your mother.

It may help to talk her situation over with her GP (family Doctor).  It would be a good idea to let them know your concerns.  I am not sure whether your mother was given a CNS(Cancer Nurse Specialist).  They  might also be a good person to contact as they will be aware of your mother's medical history.  Are you sure that they are considering surgery?

Your mother would have to give consent to have any surgery done.  If she was unable to give Consent because of her dementia and lack of understanding the doctors would have to gain consent from her next of kin.

Try not to worry about it too much.  I am sure you will feel better if you can discuss this through with her doctor.

I hope this has helped a bit.  Please do give us a ring if you want to talk any of this through.  The number to ring is Freephone 0808 800 4040.  We are here from Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

    Best Wishes,

    Catherine
