My poorly Nan

My nan has bowel cancel which has also spread to the liver. I have no idea how long she has but lately she has been passing blood clots and says her stomach is hard and swollen. She has been to the doctors and they said her tummy is normal. She also has a stoma. I’m terrified she is going to die in the next three weeks whilst I’m on holiday :-(

Has anyone been in the same situation?

  • Hi there ..

I'm so sorry your hear and your heart must be braking ... and I'm so close to my little granddaughter,  she's my world, so all can can tell you is what I'd say to her if she was in your possision..  and I'd say go .. but have a special day befor you go to say everything and leave nothing unsaid .. she will know how much you love her ..

On the other hand, for you, could you be at ease if she did pass ... coz you could end up wishing you'd stayed .. do your parents know more info, then they are saying .. because most adults want to protect their kids, but in doing that, the kids feel more isolated not knowing ... I've always believed in gentle honesty ..

There's no easy answer, and the only one that can decide is you .. maybe talk to your nan... but then it would be doubly hard to ask you to stay ... I wish I could help, but we dont have crystal balls .. you could go and she'll still be here when your back ... I hope you get some other views that may help more ..

Sending you a big hug ...  Chrissie
