Needing support

Hi there my mum was diagnosed with ovarian cancer almost 3 yrs ago. All chemo was stopped a few months ago as it had stopped working.

She is now in a hospice and has been only for a very short time but has taken a turn for the worse. She now has a bowel blockage. She is unable to eat and is having very small amounts of liquid.

I have just had my second child now only 2 weeks old, I feel like my world has come crashing down. What do I do without my mum she’s my everything

  • Hello Doddjuly.  It is very sad to know you are losing your mum especially as you are going through an emotional time having recently had a new baby (congratulations on that).  Even though when we know that a loved family memer is losing their battle with their illness it is of course very upsetting when it actually happens.  My mum died from cancer not long before I had my son which was very sad; we know we have to find our feet when we grow up but  it doesn't help the sorrow involved.  Try to see it as a blessing that even when diagnosed you had the period of time when the chemo was still working and be sure she will be pleased to have lived long enough to see  her new grandchild.    I am sure you and your husband/partner will ensure your children both know about their grandmother and how she loved them.  Annie
