Exemestane and thinner blood??

Hi there

my mother in law has been taking Exemestane for about 7/8 months now for breast cancer in her neck lymph node and a couple of other places. She has notice the last couple of weeks when she has taken her diabetic *** test that her blood is runnier. And also she having trouble getting a small cut on her arm to heal. Today after her routine blood test at the hospital the blood didn’t clot and it was pouring everywhere. They dressed it and now she’s worried.

Can this be a normal side effect? I’ve said she needs to speak to her consultant. Any other ideas?

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat Swmum82.

I'm sorry to read about your mum's blood being thinner. We have some information on our website about the side effects of exemestane but I've think you've done the right thing by suggesting your mum speaks to her consultant as they will be in the best position to advise on this.

I hope you'll hear from some of our members soon but do feel free to give our cancer nurses a call if you'd like to chat to them about this. Their lines are open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m on 0808 800 4040 (freephone).

    Kind regards,
