Caring for my mother

Hi

My mother was diognosed with secondary breast cancer 7 months back which has spread to bones caausing spinal cord compression, she had primary 10 years ago. She has undegone radiotherapy and is on chemo since 3 months. The situation is getting worse day by day as she is barely able to walk. Can someone please suggest how to fight the side effects of chemo with proper diet (as we are vegetarians) and what are the important thing to do while undergoing chemo. We want to see her atleast be alble to walk.

Thanks.

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat Sufe although I'm sorry to read of your mother's diagnosis and for the reason you are posting.

Many members here on the forum will be able to empathise with your mother's struggle to find a suitable diet to have during treatment and I'm sure some of them will be along soon to offer their suggestions and share their experiences on what they managed to eat and drink during their chemo. We have some information on our website about managing diet problems that may help at this time as well.

The best people to talk to about this though are your mother's medical team so do try and have a chat with them when you can as they will also be able to advise you on how you can help her manage the side effects of her chemo.

Best wishes to you both at this difficult time.
