I am sorry to hear that your husband has had this recurrent odour in his mouth and I hope you will hear from others here who have suffered similar side effects after treatment for tonsil cancer.

I think given that this smell has got worse, it would be worth talking to your husband's medical team about this and ask that they have a good look at his tonsil and make sure the odour is caused by the treatment and not for example an infection or anything else. Your husband's doctor will be in the best position to determine what is causing this so don't hesitate to give them a call and explain everything.
