Chemo

hi,my husband was diognosed with T4 N3 cancer in april, after doctors though he had a muscle strain,

he had his first chemo last thursday, and for the first 3days seem ok,infact  seemed better than he had for a long time, but over the last few days he has had diarrhea, constipation, and is just totally worn out and drained,He sleeps nearly all day,but is then awake most of the night,,are these symptoms all normal, feel concerned, all new to us .

  • Hi there

welcome to the forum and welcome to the world of chemo

i can only talk from my own experience and can relate to what your husband is going through

i had 30 sessions of Tomotherapy and 6 weekly 8 hour session of Cisplatin chemo every friday

i used to love my weekends as I would get pumped so full of steroids that I’d be on a great high but would then start to come down about Monday and Thursday ... we’ll i could not wait for Friday.

im not sure if it was the chemo or the Tomotherapy, but it drains you I would be up late in the morning, have a sleep in the afternoon for about 3 hours get up for 3 hours then back to bed at 11 and sleep all the way through until 9 the next day.

the chemo does give you constipation so take those laxatives....to many though and opps ... so it’s a juggling process and it changes every couple of days.

i hope I’ve helped ... yes it’s normal, well it was with me

lets us know how you both get on
