Sister diagnosed with BC

Hello everyone

My 35yo sister has recently been diagnosed with breast cancer not long after having my nephew. After everything she went through after having him, for this to pop up seems so cruel. I know she will pull through as she is a very strong person and her family are 100% there for her, but I will struggle seeing her suffer through chemo with a young baby. What are  the most helpful things people can do? I don't live very nearby any more but I'll be able to come down and help with cleaning / childcare. What did you find helped you the most? She is so young but she is by no means the first in our family: grandma with breast cancer, aunt with ovarian and now her :/

  • Hi there, so sorry to hear about your sister, and so many now seem so young ... yes cancer has no empathy, or compassion... it doesn't care who, old and young, male or female, fit, poorly ... it doesn't discriminate ...

You sound like a wonderfull sister ... I'm sure all those things you've said, will mean the world to her ... there's lots of breast cancer lasses on here ... all ages, and all at different stages, different treatments ... but we all help each other through ... we have cancer, it doesn't have us ... as one of our lasses says and it's so true ... yes there will be hard days and lots of emotions ... but if she can look it in the eye, and take it on , it will help her through ... though having a young baby must be doubly hard ..

But with a sis like you, it's doable ... the more that family can pull together ... maybe a Rota of help to cover times she'll need it ... it does help to share tears .. and hugs ... and to admit your all scared ...  l had grade 3 her 2 breast cancer and mastectomy last July, and I'm here writing to you ...

Cancer wants us to buckle, and feel weak .. and lay down and give in ... but these breast lasses have taken cancer by the short and curlies and giving it a run for its money ... we've got it on the ropes ... so can your sister ... so sending you both a big hug ... Chrissie
