Advice

Our brother has been diagnosed with Stage4 throat cancer and basically given up. He doesnt want op being offered and last night said “just let me go” when we were trying to talk to him about his options. Just dont know what to do feel helpless.

  • Welcome to the forum Net although I'm sorry for the reason you are posting.

When finding out about a cancer diagnosis, the person diagnosed (as well as friends and family) will go through a range of emotions, so it could be that your brother is feeling slightly overwhelmed by what he has found out and as a result is shutting everyone and everything, including possible treatment options, out at the moment. He may just need some time to himself to take everything in and think about what he really wants to do and when he's ready to chat I'm sure you'll be the first to know.

I'm including some information about cancer and emotions for you to have a look at which I hope will prove useful at this time but hopefully some of our members who have been in this position with their siblings or loved ones will be along soon to offer their support and advice.

    Kind regards,
