So sorry to read about your dad, While I don't have any real experience of cancer or its treatments , I do have experience of being on steroids. I suffer with rheumatoid arthritis and I am on steroids frequently. When I am free of a flare of arthritis I Do not be on the steroids and like any normal person if I work hard or exercise hard I pay for it in tiredness and fatigue. When I get a flare ,it is so devastingly tiring and painful ,its beyond explaining just suffice to say even brushing your teeth needs two hands ,one to support the one with the brush. When they put me on the steroids its like I am a new man, loads of strength and energy but they are so detrimental to your health am they have serious side effects if you are on the them for a length of time. Your heart beats faster than normal, you are warmer than normal,you have more energy than at anytime in your life. But it is a false dawn, say in my case I have to come down off them gradually and hope the flare stops, its not good to come sharply off steroids.What I am trying to explain is the effects of steroids and they are extremely powerful and will make you feel invincible but they only mask the cause of your illness they will never cure it, I'm sorry to say.
