Mums deteriorating fast

ny mum was diagnosed 4 weeks ago with secondary breast cancer spread to liver and bones.

shes beaten breast cancer twice before 17yrs ago and 4 yrs ago, not so lucky this time

her liver is too badly effected to have chemo so they started her on fulvestrant injections straight away, we were told if the liver doesn’t improve then we could have as little as 4 weeks left with her!

shes been managing fine up until yesterday when she can’t now get from sitting to standing!

weve had no follow up appointments so don’t actually know if her liver is improving But today she’s very tired, no energy, and not quite with it, she’s in no pain so not on any pain medication, my brother lives 4 hrs away and keeps asking me if he needs to come down!

my dad doesn’t know, he s asking me for guidance too!

i don’t know if this is the start of the end or if it’s possibly just a bad day or side effects,

how am I meant to know?

i just feel alone and scared right now xx

  • Hello Jay-kay.  A warm welcome to you although I am sorry for your mum's deterioration in health has brought you here.  As well as being distressing this can be scary if you are not sure what is happening.  I am attaching some information from this website about what happens in the last weeks of life so you can hopefully get some idea of where things are going; I know this is upsetting but it is best to know where things are at.  You should still get your doctor to examine your mum as things vary so much from one patient to another.  Please do come back here as often as you like when you are worried or upset as we always be here for you and try to help.  Best wishes.  Annie
