Bowel cancer peritoneal metatasis

Hello

My mum has bowel cancer that has spread to the liver and peritoneum. The tumor in the bowel has been removed and she has had two rounds of chemo. I've asked her doctor about cytoreductive surgery and HIPEC but she said its not available in Wales. I'm wondering what next I can do to help my mum. She is 70 but otherwise in good health.

Does anyone have any information/advice about what I can do next?

  • Welcome to the forum Marie although I'm sorry to read that your mum's bowel cancer has spread to the liver and peritoneum.

We can't really advise on what you can do next for your mum as we are a place for emotional support. Her doctor is the best port of call to discuss all possible treatment options (whether on the NHS or by going private) but if you'd like to have a general chat about this with our cancer nurses do give them a call on 0808 800 4040. They're available Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

I'm including a link to the beating bowel cancer in case you'd like to discuss your mum's situation with them as well.

Best wishes to you both at this difficult time,
