My friend

my best friend thought she had flu at Christmas but diagnosed a month ago with liver cancer. Within week spread to colon and lungs. She was taken to hospital two weeks ago and told she has two weeks. Friday she was very agressive towards me and said she never wanted to see me again and to leave. Thánkfully I went back and she told me how I was her best friend and how she had waited for me. They say cancer gone to her brain I don’t know how long there is left

    Hi Newts,

A very warm welcome to Cancer Chat.

I am so sorry to hear about your friend's diagnosis and to hear how aggressive she was with you on Friday. This is very distressing. I nursed my mum, who had breast cancer for 12 years before she died with metastases in her brain, bones, lungs and liver. It was not unusual for her to have the odd outburst in the latter stages and it was difficult not to take what was said personally, but it was also totally out of character for her.

Please continue to support your friend and try not to let these outbursts worry you. It is a cruel, cruel disease and there is no accounting for how we would react if, heaven forbid, our brains were damaged.

I am so sorry that this is what things have come to, but am thinking of and praying for both of you.

Please let us know how things go and, if we can be of any help meanwhile, we are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
