Just looking to talk

Hello everyone

My husband has stage 4 renal cancer that metastisized to lungs and lymph. We don't have a good prognosis so we are just trying to enjoy our days and live life as full as he can.  I am happy to say that  I have an excellant support group of friends and family but what I don't have is anyone close who has gone through this.  I'm really just lookikng to be able to ask questions about the different things we can expect over the course of time. I don't know if that is something anyone can really answer but I just don't know what to expect from her on in.

To date I think he is doing fairly well....biggest problem is how exhausted he is all the time. Goes to bed about 11 each night and sleeps through until about 11;00 - 1:00 ish.  His appetite is limited but we don't make an issue over it. I just let him eat what he wants when he can. Our dietician has been very helpful in making calories count.

I know everyone is different so it may be hard to answer me but I'm kind of wondering what things will happen next. So far, its lack of interest in food and exhaustion.   Any thoughts?

  • Hi there and welcome to our little chat room ...

Most of us on here are just average people like you ... we have various cancers or some just looking after or relatives of the ones on this journey ... one thing I have found being here, is everyone's journey is different ...  some go on way beyond expected time and some sooner ..

There's so many on here that are pushing those boundaries along the road ... our groops of ask the nurses are there to reply to questions we don't have an answer to.... or they can point you in the right direction for info ...

So take care, and know if you need someone to hold your hand on this path, there's always someone here ... big hug ... Chrissie x

  • My husband also has renal cell cancer it had spread to the lungs 1 mass in each lobe and too the back bones and 3 masses in the brain. We had gamma surgery for the brain in April and radiation for the masses in the back and now on 2 round of immungoly treatment to shrinks the mass on left kidney and the lungs if immu works we will remove the kidney also adrenal glad and lymnode. Health wise he is doing good just tried still goes to work, appetite is good not like before. I think with the treatments it has an effect. We live day to day and he drinks insure 3 times daily and also I crush up 6 appricote seeds and he take these plus veg drinks he has maintained his weight so that's good. I know the outcome of this cancer sounds the worst but everyone is different and your husband could be one that can live a long time I read an story of a man that has has this for 17 years and when cancer pops up he does a treatment and the treatment my husband is on right just came out in May and has some good outcomes just keep your faith.
