My mum was diagnosed yesterday with lung cancer

Hello,

My mum was taken to the A&E yesterday because she had trouble breathing. Scans showed she has lung cancer which has spread to her lymph nodes. Apparently they will operate and she will get chemotherapy but need to go and see the oncologist first. Apparently it’s in a very bad place where the lungs meet. Thay said it’s the latest time to do anything.

Wont cure but can treat.

I have no idea what it all means. I’m so scared and

can’t stop crying. She is only 65.

  • Hi Anna, I am so sorry to hear your news. I found out last Wednesday that my Dad was diagnosed with lung cancer, after being rushed to A&E as he lost the use of his legs. The cancer spread to his liver and bones, they have operated to remove the tumour from around his spine (which was pressing on the nerve stopping him from being able to walk) and now we just have to wait. I have been living in New Zealand and packed up my life and booked a flight home, I arrived on Saturday and it all just feels very surreal. I completely understand your message as I feel the same. I have no idea what any of it means or even what the treatment options are yet. I think you just have to be as strong as you can and have faith in the doctors. I hope you get some answers soon
