Radiotherapy or Chemotherapy for Mum - Kidney Cancer

My Mum was diagnosed with kidney cancer and they removed her kidney but didn’t manage to remove all of the cancer. There was a small bit on her rib and Doc initially said if they scanned it in three months and it was only on the rib they would cut it out, however it has spread to the plura of her lung so the Doctor said she will need treatment. He said it cannot be cured and she probably has about 3 years to live. We are all devastated but trying to keep positive. She has no symptoms at all and feeling well so Dr suggested delaying treatment as This will probably make her unwell and will not affect the life expectancy in th long run. He recommended chemo tablets and advised of all of the side effects, he made out as though this was the best option but said radiotherapy was also an option. When I asked what the difference was he said they both do the same thing, shrink the cancer, so I am confused. Surely if radiotherapy has the same effect this would be better for mum and other patients as there are much less side effects than the chemo tablets? Do you think it’s a cost thing for the NHS?

radiotherapy or chemotherapy what’s best??

thank you so much for reading my post xxx
