NIVOLUMAB IMMUNOTHERAPY - Fatigue?

Dear all,

my wonderful mother has metastasized cancer to her lungs (Squamous Cell Carcinoma). Having had major surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, she is now on immunotherapy (Nivolumab).

Have any other people here had this drug? We feel very lucky to have the opportunity for Mom to have this, but she is immensely tired and has pain in her side. We don't know whether this is sinister or a normal part of the treatment side-effects.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Abij,

I am sorry to hear about the pain in your mum’s side and her tiredness. Have you mentioned this to her care team? Sometimes they need to increase medication as time moves on. I’m glad to hear that she has been given Nivolumab and hope that this is of help to her.

If you want to hear from others who are on the same therapy, you can use the search engine on the blue banner at the top of this page. This will bring up previous posts on this topic.

Please keep in touch and let us know how she gets on. We are always here for you whenever you want to talk.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine

  • Hi AbijS,

I know it's been a while since you made this post but I just wanted to share some general information with you that we have about Nivolumab on our website. It contains a list of possible side effects and provides advice on how to manage them so do have a look if your mum is still experiencing any side effects you're concerned about. I'm sure you're doing this already but do keep your mum's GP or medical team in the loop if you're worried about anything as well.

I hope this helps Abi and I wish your mum all the best with her treatment.

    Kind regards,
