My dad lost his voice due to the shock

Hi everyone, I am new to this group. My dad has bee fighting brain cancer for 3 years, with a courage and love for life that are unbelieveable. Without going further into the details of the ilness, things seemed to be fine until a few weeks ago when he did one of his rutinary checks and we realized the tumor came back strong, so strong in fact that at this point it is almost a certainty that he has just some months to live. The news shocked him so bad that he has lost his voice, can barely speak or even open his eyes. This is an emotional shock and it is not related with the ilness. I was wondering if anyone here has experienced the same. I wish I knew how I could help him
