RADIOTHERAPY AND CHEMO FOR THYROID CANCER

Can someone please advise how many times can one have radiotherapy as my new and treasured friend has only just told me of his suffering and I am heartbroken as I do not like to ask too many questions as he is not free with info, he has lost 8 stone in 12 months and on second lot of radiotherapy up until April and I think also has had chemo, he is a retired Doctor so not easy to handle, would appreciate some advice as he is a difficult person to help but oh so lovable and very brave and cheerful as if nothing has happened to him, he has gone blind in one eye due to a slight stroke also and yet helps others so much - I, in turn, want to help him - suggestions if you will please.

God Bless you all and lots of love

But for the Grace of God go I

  • Hello enid and welcome to our forum.

I'm so sorry to hear about your friend's situation, what a difficult time this must be for you both.

I can appreciate why you are worried and trying to help him but not being a doctor who is familiar with your friend's case, or having any medical background, it is difficult for me to say how many times one can have radiotherapy and chemotherapy.  That being said, there is a page from our website I'm linking to this message with general information on treatments for thyroid cancer which I hope can be of some use.

Also, if you feel like speaking to someone medically trained might help, our nurses are available to chat with you on this phone number (which is free to call from the UK) 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9 a.m - 5 p.m.

Best wishes to you and your friend,
