Worried about my sister

Hi everyone.

My sister is currently experiencing extreme pain in her back and legs due to cancer on the spine. She already had 5 months of chemotherapy for a cancer they found in her breast.

Was just wondering if there is anybody else out there that has dealt with this pain too and if they have any advice on how she can deal with the pain while at home and not receiving radiotherapy/chemotherapy.

  • Good morning Andy and Merry Christmas.  I regret I cannot give you the advice you are seeking but as so many of our knowledgeable posters are busy with Christmas thingies and might take a little longer to respond than usual I wanted you to know your post has been read.  I would suggest ringing the nurses on this website - their number is at the bottom of the screen - to discuss your sister's issues.  I don't know how much cover there is over Christmas but if you ring the number I am sure you will get this information and may get straight through to a nurse.  My best wishes to you and your sister.

  • Hi Andy and welcome to the forum.

I'm really sorry to hear your sister is having extreme pain in her back and legs due to cancer on the spine.

Following on from Annieliz's post I just wanted to let you know that our cancer nurses hotline is closed over the festive period but will be in operation again on Thursday 28th December. If you or sister feel like urgent help is needed to help alleviate the pain I would suggest getting in touch with your sister's medical team if she has contact numbers for them (and if they are available to chat to over Christmas) or contacting NHS 111 for further support and advice.

I hope this helps Andy and that your sister's pain becomes more manageable soon.

    Kind regards,
