Advanced bladder cancer spread to bones

My father has advanced bladder cancer which has spread to his bones, mainly his back. His treatment has stopped and he has been taken off the clinical trial he was on. He is now on morphine. He is very confused and we are waiting results to see if it has spread to the brain. As his daughter I am finding it quite difficult to deal with. I wanted to join here to speak to others who understand. I live a long way from him so can't see him and getting information from my mother, or indeed him often turns out to be different to what is actually happening, I think due to misunderstanding situations.

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat Helen although I'm sorry to read about your father's diagnosis and for the reason you are posting.

Many members here know how difficult it is supporting loved ones through their cancer journeys, especially when they're far away, and I'm sure some of them will pop by when they can to offer their support and advice.

In the meantime if you're wanting more information maybe you could ask for your dad's permission to speak to his medical team directly so you can find out everything you need and want to know. I've included some information about coping with cancer for you to have a look at as well. It's written from the point of view of the person being diagnosed but can still be really useful for those in a supporting role.

I hope this helps and that when the results come back they show it hasn't spread to his brain.

    Kind regards,
