Small cell lung cancer, also taken over liver

I've never done this before but my mum has small cell lung cancer which we have recently discovered has spread to her liver, we have planned to take her on holiday asap but was just wondering if anyone has any idea how long she may have left and also how to cope with death as I don't know my father and only other close relative died just before christmas last year I lost my Nan (very close to me) and my mum will be last of my immediate family I'm 29 years old . Thanks x

  • Hi there ... sorry to hear your mums diagnosis, it sure is confusing when you don’t know much and it’s a bit like getting lost in a maze and not sure where to turn ... I’m sorry but none of us can give you a time frame ... even drs usually can only give rough estimates as everyone’s different ... so you need to have a gentle conversation with your mum and maybe you could go with her to her appointments, so things may be a little clearer ... just make the most of every day no matter how long ... may help to tell her you will listen if she wants to talk ... and she may open up ...

pits the same when you loose someone close... everyone greaves differently ... some can cope quite well, other’s it takes a lot longer ... but all seem to go through so many emotions... it all part of loosing someone you love ... but there’s always a free phone number on here and McMillan too... you can talk to a trained nurse ... they help everyone who needs help. I used it when I was feeling a bit lost and confused and it sure helped me ...

so sending you a big hug ... Chrisie xx
