Mybdad

My dad (79) has literally just been diagnosed with colon cancer that has spread to his liver. He is due to have a colostomy bag fitted on Saturday but in the meantime he is unable to eat without having to run to the loo numerous times after. What can he eat that will help him? He is at the end of his tether at the moment .

  • Welcome to the forum Babar although I'm sorry to hear about your dad's diagnosis and the reason you find yourself here.

That sounds like a very frustrating situation to be in. I hope he was able to manage over the last day or so and fingers crossed eating will become much easier when he gets his colostomy bag fitted today. I have found some information we have on our website about eating in relation to this cancer diagnosis which I hope you find useful but if you have any further questions just give our cancer nurses a call next week. Their number is 0808 800 4040 and are available Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

I hope today goes well for your dad Babar. Do come back and let us know how your dad is getting on as I'm sure other members who have been in this situation will pop by soon to share their advice and experiences to help you along.

    Best wishes to you both,
