We dont know who to turn to. Since my husband has had his major surgery nothing else has happened. Except consultants having meetings or cancelling them his cancer has spread we are frightened and angry.
I am sorry to hear that nothing has happened since your husband's operation. What type of cancer does he have, what stage is it at and how long has he had it for? When did he have his operation. How did you discover that the cancer has spread?
Sorry, lots of questions, but need some information before I can comment.
He had penile cancer and has a total penectomy the operation was 6 weeks ago he had a pet scan 2 months ago the consultant urologist from leicester said it had spread to lymph nodes and pelvis the oncologist said it was too dangerous to have op to remove lymph nodes but now another consultant has said they want to do op but are having meeting regarding this. It just seems to be people passing the book and we are no further forward and no treatment yet surely this isnt right and we are seriously considering making a complaint as they are messing with his life we are very frightened xx
Really sorry it's turned out this way, Mattocks. I replied to you in another thread that I am also a penile cancer sufferer so I think I can understand what you and your partner are going through, although so far I have escaped lightly. My penile cancer is SCC which 95% of penile cancers are, I think (I'm not a medic). When you say that it has spread to lymph nodes and pelvis I assume you mean lymph nodes both in the groin and in the pelvis, as this is the way penile cancer usually spreads.
Do not hesitate to ask for a second opinion if you are unhappy. St George’s Healthcare NHS Trust in London, for example, is a recognized centre of excellence for penile cancer which, as you know, is a very rare disease. xx Harry
