    Hello Granddapig,

Welcome to the forum. I am sorry to hear about your partner's diagnosis. Is she undergoing any treatment at present? I have had two bouts of primary breast cancer and lymphoedema in both hands and arms. The first time I had a lumpectomy and the second a double mastectomy. I haven't had radiotherapy or chemo, just Tamoxifen and Letrozole. I was utterly exhausted for the first six years and could and often did fall asleep anywhere. I understand that chemo makes you even more tired.

I had always been a busy person and ran my own business, but I had to give this up due to the extreme tiredness. I was told not to lift anything heavy and not to even pick up an iron. My husband has been my rock, despite having serious health problems himself. He has taken over the cooking, washing, ironing and general housekeeping. He retired on health grounds in his early 50'ties, so no longer has to work, but I can see that running after me takes its’ toll on him. I note that Margie1 has replied to your other post recommending Macmillan. There are other care agencies (for example Constance Care), throughout the country as well, but I expect that there will be a charge attached to these  services.

Why not ask your wife’s care team if they can recommend any services in your area?

Do let us know how you get on. Remember that there is always someone here to talk to.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine

  • Hi to you!  My husband has stage 4 lung cancer and it is hard being a Carer.  So much running around to do, organizing treatment plans, scans,  appointments,  it's never ending.  I was so angry at first especially as he had smoked until nine yes ago, I soon learnt anger eats you up and wastes energy that you  need for important things.  Ask for help and you can get extra money for help around the house.  Speak to your Mc Millan nurse they help a lot, don't struggle on your own and Stay strong.
